How to Determine Correct Replacement Entry Door Latch for 2002 Keystone Outback Travel Trailer

Question:

We have 2002 keystone outback TT 28 ft. My buddy checks on our camper 100 miles north of here. The dead bolt is messed up and he cant get in. I want to buy a lock #295-000002 , have it sent to his home. He will drill out the cylinder , gain accsess and replace with the new lock. Will this lock fit out door. Thanks

If the existing latch is 3-1/2 inches wide by 4-1/4 inches tall, the door is 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches thick and the rough opening the latch installs into is 2-1/2 wide x 3-1/2 tall to 3 wide x 4 inches tall, the # 295-000002 Global Link RV Entry Door Lock would be an appropriate replacement. I've linked to a product description video featuring this door latch assembly.

Determining exact replacement parts for an RV isn't easy because the exact parts used aren't always consistent among the same models within the same model year. Keystone could have used several different locks and the only way to know for sure is to provide them with a VIN. If you'd care to reply to this email with the VIN, I'll see what Keystone can tell me regarding a replacement latch.
