How to Remove Power from 12V 7-Way Pin on 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 When Truck is Off

Question:

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 with a slide in the bed truck camper. Camper is connected to the truck through the 7-way trailer plug. The plug is wired constant hot which allows the camper to drain down the truck battery if you don’t unplug the camper. The hot wire is on a 30 amp fuse in position 2 under the hood. I’d like to switch the hot wire to only be hot when the truck is running. Do you have a recommendation? Maybe just a simple 12v 30 amp relay?

Expert Reply:

We do have some easy ways to disconnect the connection between the battery on your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and your in-bed camper. The best option is a battery isolation solenoid like the # PK5231201 because it does all the work for you and you don't have to remember to manually switch something off.
