Hitch Recommendation for 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 with 10 inch Drop Bumper

Question:

Should I use a trailer hitch receiver or a ball mounted hitch for my truck, my truck does ni ot have a tow package what so ever. And I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer that came with a tow package most likely stock but could I take that hitch receiver off the Ford and put it on the GMC?

A frame mounted trailer hitch for your 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 10 inch drop bumper is the way to go like with the Curt hitch part # 13339 that is a confirmed fit. A hitch from a Ford Explorer isn't going to fit and the ball hole on your bumper wouldn't give you a very high towing capacity plus will be harder to tow level since it would be higher.
