Will Lighted GMC Hitch Cover Clear Tailgate of 2020 GMC Sierra 3500

Question:

I have a new 2020 GMC with the new tailgate and a 2 1/2inch receiver. Will the tailgate miss this light when it is lowered? Can I put this into the 2 1/2inch receiver or do I have to use the adapter that GM provided. Does this come in a 2 1/2inch instead of a 2? Thanks

We don't have a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 handy to test with, so we pulled one of the # CR-007G GMC Brake Lamp Hitch covers from inventory and measured how far the top of the cover extended past the top of the shank that secures the cover in the receiver tube. We found that dimension to be .6 of an inch. Simply measure up this distance from the top inside of the receiver.

If your OEM receiver has a 2-1/2 inch receiver, you'll need a 2-1/2 to 2 inch reducer sleeve, part # C45405 in order for the hitch cover to fit securely. I've linked you to a couple of product demonstration videos that you might find helpful.
