Will a B&W Companion for the Ram Prep Package Work with Rotating Pin Boxes and my Ram Box Bed?
Question:
Im looking at purchasing a 2015 Ram 3500 with Ram Boxes. I have a 2018 Grand Design Solitude 37FLS. The truck has a BandW Companion single point attachment installed for a hitch. What options do i have for a pin box? I heard that a regular set up could potentially hit the ram boxes? I seen a sticker on the side of the BandW stating to not use a sidewinder hitch, does that include the Lipert Turning Point hitch? Or is there a hitch that has more degrees?

To keep your fifth wheel from hitting the bed rail sides or Ram Boxes you are going to get that clearance from where the pin box is mounted in the wing plates on the camper itself you can raise or lower it to achieve the clearance you need for those Ram Boxes. You can also adjust your head in the Companion upwards by changing where the pivot arms are bolted in (see video below) at the 1:50 mark. We recommend at least 4" if not closer to 6 or 7" of clearance. If your are close to the 4" mark pay close attention to it.
As far as using the Companion with rotating pin boxes it is as you said not allowed on the Prep package models or on the type of Companion that connects to the gooseneck ball. Instead you want to use the B&W Patriot with slider part # BWRVK3270 for a short bed or part # BWRVK3255 for a long bed along with base rails like the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # BWRVK2605.
I have linked these below along with videos for your reference. Happy Camping!
