What is the best way to install E -Track in a Ford Transit cargo van for camper bed install using the 2x4 holders for cross members. Would you need any backer plates or go directly to sheet metal?

If you cannot secure the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # E19148 to the frame of the vehicle, you will need to use a backing plate like the etrailer Backing Plate # e96RR to help provide a more secure connection to the wall of your Ford Transit cargo van. Since the wall of the van is likely aluminum and these tracks and backing plate are made of steel, you will either need to paint both mating surfaces, as well as the hardware that you're using to secure them to the floor. You can also use a plastic/rubber stripping under the tracks (as shown in the installation/review video linked to this answer), since the two different metals will corrode more quickly when they're mated.
We do not have specific hardware that is designed for mounting this application, so you'll want to source your bolts at a local hardware store.
