Is Battery Disconnect Needed When Flat Towing 2018 Ford Explorer II
Question:
I just purchased from etrailer.com my tow bar and Patriot II braking system. I am having my local Blue Ox dealer install the baseplate and wiring kit on my 2018 Ford Explorer Limited. This dealer says I dont need to actually do the battery disconnect and the service advisor at my local Ford dealer says the same thing. Im scared of doing something that might damage my Explorer. What is your opinion?

Expert Reply:
The two opinions you got on whether or not to install the battery disconnect when setting up your 2018 Ford Explorer for flat towing with the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR are trustworthy. The Ford dealer would be the highest authority on the matter since they are who will honor the warranty of the vehicle and who designed the vehicle.
