How To Remove ABS Fittings That Are Glued

Question:

I have the new valves and pieces and ABS weld to repair/replace the external plumbing. What is best way to detach previously glued pieces that are undamaged? Is it possible to detach pieces that have been glued?

Expert Reply:

More than likely the pieces of your external plumbing on the trailer are glued with plumbers cement or solvent glue. You can apply concentrated hot air to (at least 350 degrees Fahrenheit) to the joints and knock the pieces loose. If this doesn't work you may need to cut the ABS pieces and use couplings.
