Distance from Hitch Pin Hole Center to Ball Hole Center on Draw-Tite Adjustable Ball Mount # 7390
Question:
Need to know the length from the Pin Hole to the Ball Mount Hole on Part #7390. Is 14inch better than a standard 12inch of the same weight capacity?

I made a picture showing 3 important measurements on the Draw-Tite adjustable ball mount # 7390. The distance from hitch pin hole center to ball hole center is 11-3/4 inches.
If the extra 2 inches is needed in a ball mount then of course it would be beneficial to go with the 14 inch. But in comparison of 2 ball mounts that are the same in every other way except length, there is no benefit in choosing one over the other. You may get less rattle with the shorter model and there will be a tad less stress on the hitch but the difference will not be noticed.

My 2013 VW Touareg TDI owners manual states that the pinhole-to-ball distance should not exceed 6 1/8. How important is that? Is that not impossible with a sway bar setup?
