Best Option To Replace 10 Inch x 1-3/4 Inch AL-KO Braking Assemblies
Question:
I saw this reply to upgrade 10X1-3/4 inch breaks to 10X2-1/4 inch. Is this upgrade proven to fit? Will the Bearings seat correctly on the spindle since the 1/2 inch wider drum and hub?

It is very possible to upgrade from 10 x 1-3/4" to 10 x 2-1/4" braking assemblies. The brake mounting flange will be the same standard four bolt pattern for both of these options which means everything would be a direct bolt-on swap but the downside of this is that you must also replace the hub/drum as well since the braking assemblies are different sizes. The Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35-SA paired with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K is what I recommend and it would be an easy swap with improved stopping power.
Please note, the braking assembly should be installed so that the brake magnet is at the bottom of the assembly not the top as you have now.
