Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit That Leaves Clean Bed When Hitch Is Not Installed

Question:

I have a GMC 3500HD DENALI without factory preppuck mounts. I am looking for a custom mount for the truck that allows me to install and remove industry standard rails so I can pull a 5th wheel and then have a clean bed. Do you have anything that will work?

I have a solution for you, but installing and then removing the bed rails after each use is going to cause undue stress on the hardware components on the bed rails; these components are designed to be installed once and discarded after installation, so there isn't going to be a rail kit that can be used in this manner. For this reason, I can't recommend using a kit with above bed rails like the B&W # BWRVK2505, which provides industry standard 5th wheel rails to mount a hitch in and instead recommend using a custom under bed installation kit.

I recommend using the B&W Custom Under bed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1020-5W, which will provide you with a custom installation that fits perfectly in your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 HD and will leave you with a clean truck bed when the hitch is not installed. The compatible hitch with this under bed installation kit is the B&W Companion with Slider # BWRVK3400-5W, which will provide up to 12" of fore/aft travel to help create more separation from the truck's cab when making tight turns. The Companion hitch uses a 1" thick dual jaw that provides 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact for less rattle and greater security. It also comes with a fully articulating hitch head that moves front to back and side to side, which will help eliminate chucking when towing and make hooking up much easier. The B&W Companion hitch is one of our highest rated and most popular hitches because of the high quality and durability you get from the B&W brand, as well as the convenience and flexibility provided by the Companion under bed system that also doubles as a gooseneck hitch if needed.

I've linked a few videos of the Companion hitch and under bed system that you can have a look at that you might find helpful, as well.
