Supplemental Transmission Cooler for 2015 Ford F150 2.7 Ecoboost
Question:
I have a 2015 f150 with a 2.7 ecoboost and pull a 6500lbs to 7000lbs depending on how much crap Im taking camper up and down the hills and passes throughout Utah and Wyoming. The transmission will almost always stay above 210 on some climbs its will get over 225 then I try to find a pullout and let it cool. What cooler option do you recommend? An auxiliary, or factory replacement? The best bang for your buck? Thanks also no heavy tow package

I'd definitely recommend using a supplemental cooler such as the Derale # D13503 you'd looked at. A transmission cooler is an excellent yet inexpensive way to protect your transmission. The cooler installs inline with the transmission return lines from the radiator, and the best location for the cooler would be directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator. The cooler has plenty of vanes that will let air pass through, so there's no worries of restricting air flow to the radiator. Ideally, you wouldn't want to see your transmission temperature above 210°, and this cooler would certainly help with that.
You'll want to measure the available space on the front of the radiator, to be sure the cooler will fit.
I'll link you to some help articles about transmission coolers, as well as a video showing a typical installation.
