Ball Stuck in my Factory Gooseneck on my 2016 Ford F-250
Question:
I have a 2016 Ford F250 with the dealership installed puck system. My ball is stuck. The dealership removed the release pin from the head of the ball and the whole assembly ped in the ball by about an inch. I read about a removable plug in the ball, but I cant access the bottom of the ball. The puck system only has 2 holes in the bottom and I cant see the bottom of the ball through them. What else can i try? The dealership wants to torch it out or sale me another puck system.

In this case not being able to access the bottom is the issue. There is a rubber cap that when removed will allow you to turn the release mechanism manually. You could open up the bottom cover you mentioned that has the two holes in it to gain access to the manual release. Another option is to pull up on the center pin you can still see in the top with a thin set of needle nose pliers or straight hemostats. I'm sure they tried that but worth a shot. If that pin is seized (possibly why the dealer "removed" or broke the release) then your best bet is gaining access from the bottom.
Once out replace it with B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit for Ford, GM, and Nissan Titan Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNXA2061. I find this one to be much better about resisting corrosion and seizing than what I've seen out of the chrome plated options.
