Comparing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for 2020 Subaru Forester

Hello. Looking at a hitch for my 2020 Subaru Forester. I see two options from Draw-Tite that look pretty similar. What is the difference between them - which do you recommend?

There are indeed two trailer hitches from Draw-Tite that are designed to fit your 2020 Subaru Forester; the Class III # 76271 and the Class II # 36671. Both hitches will install/mount in the same manner to the vehicle's frame rails, but where they differ is the actual receiver size they provide along with their capacities.

The Class III # 76271 features a 2" receiver and a 525 pound tongue weight limit while the Class II # 36671 has a smaller 1-1/4" receiver opening and a 350 pound tongue weight capacity. Both offer the same 3,500 pound towing weight limit.

Between the two options I definitely recommend going with the higher Class III hitch, as even if you don't foresee using the higher capacity it give you, its 2" receiver opening is compatible with many more accessories (bike racks, cargo carriers, etc) than the smaller opening. It just opens the door to a lot more options, while the smaller 1-1/4" hitches can be a be limiting in this regard.
