Positioning of Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit, 2012 Chevy Silverado
Question:
Where does the Reese R 30868 position the center of the fifth wheel hitch in relationship to the rear axle of the truck? Does the kit provide any flexibility for positioning the fifth wheel or is the location fixed by Reese? Also, pls include finished installation images of this kit.

With the Elite Series installation kit, # RP30868, installed, the center of the hitch jaws will be approximately directly over the center of the rear axle. You will want the center of the hitch jaws to be directly above or with a couple of inches forward of the rear axle.
There is not a lot of room to change the positioning of the install kit due to where it needs to mount under the bed. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. I have also included a link to an FAQ article for you.
We have not yet installed this kit on a vehicle so I do not have any pictures specifically of a 2012 Chevy Silverado. However, it will look a lot like the pictures in the FAQ.
