Will the Curt Echo Brake Controller Work On the Back Of a Trailer To Tow Another Trailer

Question:

I want to tow a trailer with brakes behind my fifth wheel being towed by my 2019 GMC 3500 Duramax. The fifth wheel has a four way connector at the receiver. The towed tandem axle trailer has brakes on both axles and is equipped with a 7 way plug. Will the Curt Echo controller with a 4 pin to a 7 pin adapter work? If so do I only need a 12 volt power supply to the 7 way and how would I supply that? Instead of running a long wire from my pickup could I power it from a 12 volt battery installed on the towed trailer?

The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 would work in a triple tow setup. However, you would need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L if the trailer directly behind the tow vehicle only has a 4-way connector. In order to install the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit you will simply plug the two 4-ways into one another, ground the white wire, then run the black wire up to the trailer battery. Therefore, you could power the Curt Echo via the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit using the trailer battery so you don't have to run a separate wire between the trailer and vehicle.
