Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD

Congrats on your new 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 HD! You didn't mention the size of your bed, or if your Sierra has the factory prep package or not. Generally trucks that have less an 8ft beds can have issues with maneuvering at slow speeds when towing a fifth wheel trailer. A slider hitch allows the hitch and trailer to slide back toward the rear of the bed creating enough space between the cab and the trailer to allow less restrictive turning.

Regardless of the configuration of your truck I have always liked B&W companion hitches. They are very well built, and are the smoothest installing fifth wheel hitches I have done. They also cut down on a lot of the annoying rattling, and the back and forth chucking that can lead to an uncomfortable ride. The jaws are a 2 piece design that completely wraps around the king pin, and the polyurethane bushings quiet and smooth out the head when it pivots. I like how they mount in the bed of the truck also. Most fifth wheels use an above the bed rail system to mount the hitch; the B&W companion actually mounts to an under bed system, so when your not towing, the hitch can come out and you'll have full bed access without having to work around those rails.

Each of the fifth wheel hitches are rated for 20,000 lbs GTW, and 5,000 vertical load limit, you do want to double check your Sierra's owner's manual and make sure that it is equipped properly and is rated for that much weight, you always want to use the lowest rating of all components being used.
