Will that Demco adapter work on a 2020 GM long bed? A friend is buying one and looking to use his Curt E16 fixed hitch. On my 2020 Chevy 2500 short bed, what fixed hitches will fit it?

In general short bed trucks require a slider hitch (not if you have a Sidewinder like what you have) so that's how we organize our fitguide. The slider hitches get listed as fits for the short bed trucks and fixed hitches for the long bed trucks.

Since your 2020 Chevy Silverado short bed has the OEM rail kit the adapter you need to install your Reese 15k hitch is the part # DM6333 and you'd be set. This adapter is also compatible with Sidewinders like you have so that would not be and issue either.

Yes, the Demco Rail Adapter part # DM6333 will fit the rail kit of a long bed 2020 Chevy Silverado as well. The rail kits of the short and long bed GMC/Chevy trucks are the same. This adapter basically fits all standard fifth wheel hitches designed for industry standard rails like the Curt E16 hitch you mentioned. It does not fit the B and W Patriot Slider hitch though but aside from that is just like a standard rail kit in truck beds.

You will have to go with a sliding hitch to allow the trailer to make tight turns. For a trailer 8 feet wide the only bed length that's going to allow 90 degree turns without a slider is a stationary hitch. That being said you have two options.…
