Can the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch On a 2018 Chevy 2500 Be Used with MORryde Orbital
Question:
I just purchased an Arctic Wolf fifth wheel and it came with the Morryde rotating pin box. I had already installed a BandW turnover ball in my truck and was planning on using a BandW Companion RVK3500. I friend told me the Morryde is a wedge style pinbox and not compatible with a Companion hitch. Is this correct and if so what options do I have now? Thank you! I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 with a 6 1/2 foot bed.

Correct, the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3500 is not compatible with rotating pin boxes like the MORryde Orbital Pin Box. The reason for this is that the singular connection point is not sufficient for the additional stress caused by the rotating pin box. Therefore, you can either remove/replace the install kit and fifth wheel hitch or remove/replace the pin box. The least expensive option would be a new hitch and install kit as you would need a new a sliding hitch if you were to replace the rotating pin box with a fixed pin box anyhow.
I recommend the Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Complete Hitch part # RP30158-68 with the Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVB3300. This is your best option because you get an underbed mounting system (uses Ford puck spacing oddly enough) which may partially align with the hole you have in your bed for the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch once removed and you can reuse the head from your B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with the Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch to save money.
