Fan and Roof Vent Cover for 2018 Aliner Expedition Camper
Question:
We just bought a 2018 Aliner Expedition a-frame camper, which comes with a basic Fantastic Fan. The way the Aliner folds down, the fan has to be installed on the front roof panel, so when traveling down the highway, the fan is oriented backwards with the hinge facing towards the back of the trailer and the fan cover opening facing towards the front. Those fan covers do not close very tightly and I am concerned that could lead to water entering the camper when traveling at highway speeds. I was wondering if the MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe would work in that backwards orientation as it folds down fairly compactly? Any other suggestions? We have the dormer option on our camper, and the fan tucks down behind the dormer, so it is not directly exposed to the wind when traveling.

I will say that it's not uncommon to have the open hatch on your fan open facing the direction of travel, so the orientation of your fan isn't a huge concern; they normally do a fairly good job of keeping most of the moisture out of your camper when they are closed properly. With that being said, the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-07500K is a great upgrade that will certainly do a superior job of keeping any rain or other moisture out of your camper.
You'll need to make sure that you current Fan-Tastic Vent is 14" x 14" (generally within 1" each way bigger/smaller is ok), but as long as it is that size you can use the MaxxFan as a replacement (this is the industry standard size for these vents, so there shouldn't be any issues on this front). This would be my recommendation if you're looking to upgrade from the current roof vent and fan on your 2018 Aliner Expedition.
