Comparing Curt and Draw Tite Hitch for 2008 Toyota Tacoma and Trailer Wiring Recommendation
Question:
Hello! First, I will give you the details! 2008 Toyota Tacoma 2 Wheel drive 4 cylinder. I need a hitch, and I am looking at the Kurt 13323 as an option. I am also looking at the Draw tight. In your expert opinion, is one better than the other? I also need a wire harness. This is to plug into the wiring on a new trailer purchase which is an Ironton 40” x 48“ trailer purchased at Northern Tool. My understanding is that all of the lights are incandescent bulbs on this trailer. I would like to add a couple of additional side marker lights on each side of the trailer. I have heard that if you add too many lights, the wiring harness may not “power“ the lights appropriately. I have researched the wiring harnesses. One is the Curt 55513 Stop and turn – 3 amps, taillight 5 amps and the Tekonsa 118496 stop and turn - 2.1 amps, tail light 7.5 amps. I have heard from your customer assistance personnel that the Curt wiring harness is “OK“ but the Tekonsa is probably a better quality, which obviously I would like to have. Will either one of these wiring harnesses power the lights that I have, considering that I would like to add a couple of extra incandescent marker lights and possibly a small strip light on the rear of the trailer? If I get rid of all of the lights that came with this trailer, and purchased LED lights from you, am I better off going that way? I guess I can just try the wiring harness you would recommend with my existing lights and see what happens, but of course, your expert opinion would be greatly appreciated! I sincerely thank you for your time in reading and answering this question! Thanks again!

The Draw Tite hitch part # 75236 and the Curt # 13323 are both really solid hitches for your 2008 Toyota Tacoma. They are so close in design that I'd honestly pick whichever had the best price as they'll both serve you the exact same.
The best trailer wiring harness then will be the one with the highest amperage rating since you plan on having several lights installed on the trailer. Since you plan to have more installed on the running light circuit the Tekonsha part # 118496 is the way to go since it has the higher 7.5 amp circuit.
