Do All Proportional Brake Controllers Have to Mount the Same Way
Question:
2004 Honda Pilot, Can the controller be mounted on its side.

Expert Reply:
Proportional brake controller like the BRAKE-EVN part # TK63VR that you referenced can not be mounted on their side since they use an internal inertia sensor to decide how hard to apply your trailer brakes. In order for the sensor to work properly the controller has to mount totally level from side to side and also face the rear of the vehicle squarely. Otherwise you'll have unpredictable and poor brake performance.
If you are wanting a brake controller that can fit in a tight install location that's out of the way we have the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 which basically just plugs into the 7-way at the rear of your vehicle and once synced to your smart phone is ready to go. Or the other great option is the Redarc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR which only puts a small dial on the dash of your vehicle like in the picture I attached as the brain/sensor of the controller mounts elsewhere out of the way.
