The recommended trailer wiring harness for a 2013 Ford Explorer will be dependent on whether or not you have the factory tow package. If you have the factory tow package then I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector part # 118272 which is a plug and play option. If you don't have the factory tow package then you will need to combine the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118540 with an adapter like the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L in order to obtain a 7-way trailer connector. If you are unsure of whether or not you have you have the factory tow package you may need to reach out to the dealer.
If you also need a brake controller, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 is a great plug and play option which is both easy to setup and use. If you did not have the factory tow package this would be the best option because it doesn't require you to splice into any wires on the vehicle for installation.
