How to Add Power for Brake Buddy Select Supplemental Braking System on 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
How do I provide power to my brake buddy advantage in a 2016 RAM1500? When setup to flat tow the last step is to turn off the ingnition. When this is done there are no 12 volt receptacles that are powered up. Do I leave the ignition in accessories mode, which I feel will drain the batteries, do I rewire an existing 12 volt receptacle, or is there some sort off wiring kit that adds a 12 receptacle? Thanks

Since your Brake Buddy Vantage Select, similar to the Select 3 # HM39524, needs to connect to a 12V power socket you'll need to install the 12V Outlet Kit # RM-9332 on your 2016 Ram 1500. You could potentially keep your truck turned on but it would require you to add some wiring to keep your battery from draining plus I'm not sure if that would have a negative impact on anything else with your Ram so I don't recommend doing that.
If you still wanted to add a charge line to your Ram just to make sure it is topped off when you reach your destination you can install the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25. This connects to your battery and then to your tow bar umbilical cord to draw 12V power from your motorhome.
