Blue Ox Base Plate and Needed Accessories to Flat Tow 2006 Jeep Wrangler with U-Channel Bumper
Question:
Hi, I have a Blue Ox Alpha model BX7365. I am looking at purchasing a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X Sport with the front U channel bumper. Does Blue Ox have a plate or do I need to buy another brand and adapter? I have never flat towed anything before, so am new to this all.

To install base plates on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler with U-channel bumper, you would need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Fixed Arms # BX1120. These base plate will work well with your Alpha tow bar #BX7365.
The next step would be to wire the Jeep so that the tail lights work along with those of the tow vehicle. The easiest way to do this is a bulb-and socket system like part # RM-155. This system will remain completely independent of the Jeep wiring system.
Blue Ox tow bars are typically sold with safety cables like part # BX88197.
A great supplemental braking system that will activate your Wrangler's brakes as the motor home's brakes are activated is the Blue Ox Patriot Braking System # BRK2012. This system is easily removable from the car when you are finished towing.
Keep in mind that some vehicles will require modifications in order to be flat towed. According to my research, the 2006 Wrangler 2WD with manual transmission is towable as-is. The 2WD automatic transmission models need a Lube Pump installed in order to be flat towed. 4WD automatic transmission models that have a neutral position in the transfer case are towable, but AWD models that do not have a manual position in the transfer case are NOT flat towable and would need to be trailered. I would suggest you confirm this information by checking with the owners manual or with Jeep.
I will link you to some FAQ articles that contain additional information about flat towing.
