Best 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 With 5th Wheel Prep Package to Prevent Binding
Question:
I'm in the market for a new fifth wheel hitch for my 2020 chevy silverado 3500, but my main concern is that I want something that isn't going to bind. In the past I've had trouble with binding when trying to open the jaws and it is really frustrating so I'd like the best one that will avoid that. I do have the prep package in the truck. Thanks in advance.

The best fifth wheel hitch for your 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 to prevent binding is the B&W Companion. The reason is because the handle on this hitch is unlatched and designed specifically not to bind. So even if there is initial binding when you are trying to uncouple the Companion, all you need to do after moving the handle to the open position is drive Silverado forward a bit and the jaws will automatically open. This ease of use feature, along with the Companion's impressive 1 inch jaws, are reasons why it is considered to be the preeminent fifth wheel hitch in the industry. The correct hitch will depend on if your Silverado 3500 is a short bed (therefore requiring a slider) and the weight capacity you need:
- Sliding B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - 20,000 # BWRVK3775
- Fixed B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3710 or 25,000 lbs # BWRVK3715
I have added links to video reviews of each hitch for you to check out as well.
