Is Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller Easy Replacement for Integrated Controller of 2002 GMC Sierra
Question:
hello. my GM integrated trailer brake control has quit working, and they want way TOO much money to fix it. this controller cost much less. it only requires 12 volt power from the tow vehicle??? how much power does it use? if i parked over night, might it drain the truck battery?? and does the curt echo mobile controller pass the 12v power through to the trailer battery to keep it charged up? thanks

You are correct, the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 that you referenced does only require the 12 volt accessory circuit of the 7-way to be active to work. It wouldn't draw any amperage when parked over night as it only draws power to activate the brakes when asked to. It also does pass the 12 volt circuit on to the rest of the trailer wiring as well. The amperage draw of the controller is relative to the amount of brake assemblies on the trailer but at max it would draw up to 30 amps like a standard controller.
