For a brake controller to replace the integrated controller of your 2005 Ford F-250 I recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is one of our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy as it is incredibly reliable, works, well and is easy to use. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
To install the controller you'll need to unplug the factory one from the port under your dash and then plug in the P3 with the install harness part # 3065-P that you referenced.
Once the OE controller is unplugged and the aftermarket unit is installed, there will probably be an error code shown on the message center on the dash. Your Ford dealer can remove the code very easily.
