How To Reduce Noise With Pivoting Head of Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch Not Hooked to a Trailer  

Question:

Is there any way to lock he pivoting head to keep it from bouncing around when there is no trailer hooked up? I am using bungee cords right now and with the UV from he sun here, they dont last long. Thank you

The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider part # RP30051 no longer has a lock out kit for the head available. I spoke to Reese and it was something they stopped manufacturing years ago. However, if you are experiencing a lot of noise then you want to make sure your rubber bumpers are not worn down. If you take a look at the exploded diagram of the hitch part 42 are the rubber bumpers that are meant to absorb the movement to reduce the noise. If they are worn out or missing you can replace them with part # 58089.
