Low Cost Base Plate and Tow Bar Recommendation to Flat Tow 2016 Jeep Wrangler with Factory Bumper

Got a newer jeep Wrangler, 2016 Sport, 2 door, factory bumper to tow behind my motorhome. 2 inch receiver on motorhome is 26 off ground at center. Old hitch is a Haul Master adjustable tow bar. 94696 Old jeep had a metal bumper I bolted the hitch to. New jeep has plastic. What to use for mounting hitch on plastic bumper, or frame? Also like the Blue Ox Alpha, dont like price, and receiver hitch too high? I like storage on the motorhome.

I have a solution for you, however, the Demco # DM9518320 baseplate kit you were checking out is only compatible with the 75th Anniversary or Rubicon Hard Rock Edition.

The Roadmaster EZ5 Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521448-5 is the most economical and cleaner looking option that will fit your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport with a standard factory bumper. The advantage of the EZ5 over the EZ4 # RM-521448-4 (also a fit) is that you're not required to use a crossbar which makes for a simpler hook up process.

The bar mounted height (distance from the ground to the center of the receiver arms) is 14-3/4 inches on a standard set-up with stock tires. To make up for the 11-1/4 inch height difference, I recommend using the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10, which will provide you with a 10-1/4 inch drop, putting you within the 3 inch safe zone.

If you don't mind potentially spending a little extra time unhooking your tow bar when you're ready to disconnect from the motorhome, and you already have a set of safety cables, the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 is going to be the most cost effective option for a motorhome stored tow bar. It does include a crossbar, but you won't be using it as it will simply use the included pins and clips to connect directly to the arms of the EZ5 baseplate kit, as mentioned earlier.
