Installing Supplemental Transmission Cooler on 1999 Ford E150 Van
Question:
I have a 1999 Ford e150 with the 5.4 liter 4r70w transmission. Is this a replacement cooler or can I align it with factory cooler

The Derale # D13502 Transmission Cooler you referenced is a supplemental cooler that can certainly be used with a OEM transmission cooler. You'd want to tap the cooler into the return line from the factory cooler back to the transmission. In other words, the transmission fluid would leave the transmission, go through the factory cooler, then go through the supplemental cooler then return to the transmission.
Unless you live where it gets and stays super-cold in the winter, it's usually advised to get the biggest transmission cooler that will fit on the front of your radiator right behind the grille. The # D13504 is a bit larger and would offer superior cooling. You'll also need some fittings. What you'll need will depend on the existing transmission lines. Use kit # D13014 for 1/4" or 3/8" NPT trans-line type fittings, or use kit # D13024 for 1/2"-20 partial thread fittings. I've linked you to a help article with more information about transmission coolers.
