Can Locking Hitch Pin Replace Threaded Hitch Pin on Bike Rack for 2 Trailer Hitch

Question:

Considering the purchase of a platform bike rack for use with a 2-inch hitch. My mother-in-law will be using the rack and I'd like to prevent her from having to use a threaded pin like is present on bike racks MPG2149 and C18085. Could C23519 be used in place of the threaded pin in these applications? Thanks

If the bike rack initially comes with a threaded hitch pin like the Malone # MPG2149 or the Curt # C18085 then a locking hitch pin like part # C23519 that you referenced won't actually fit. I do have some alternatives though that you can check out.

For a platform style rack like what you were referring to I recommend the Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3500 which has a locking hitch pin like the # C23519 but the anti-rattle feature is integrate into the bike rack shank so it is much easier to utilize. This bike rack is designed for ease of use and comes with bike and rack locks so you have some security for your equipment.

If you are wanting a bike rack that is easy to use but closer to the price-point of the other 2 racks then I recommend the Kuat Beta # B202-2 because it has the same type of integrated anti-rattle, comes fully assembled, and weighs in at a mere 12.6 lbs. To add locks you need part # HL2 for the hitch lock and part # e98891 for the bikes.

I am attaching some review videos for both bike racks that you can check out.
