Do Chains of Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System Need to Be Perfectly Vertical

Question:

I have a 2019 Airstream 16’ Bambi Sport: Does the chain on the SwayPro have to be vertical? I am not sure I can get the part that tightens the chain 29” from the coupler. It looks like it will be 30” to 31” to get the room needed, thus causing the chain not to be vertical.

According to my Blue Ox representative, you would indeed want those chains to be vertical. If the brackets aren't at 29 inches from the coupler so that the chains are vertical, the sway control function would be negatively affected.

Instead of the SwayPro, I'd recommend an Equal-i-zer system. The Equal-i-zer sway control/weight distribution system is less expensive and the sway control component is much more effective, in my opinion. The frame brackets can be mounted anywhere between 37-32 inches rearward of the coupler, so it'll work perfectly for you.

Which system you need would depend on the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your travel trailer (including the weight of anything stowed in the cargo area of the tow vehicle behind the rear axle). If the tongue weight is 600-1000 lbs, use the # EQ37100ET. For trailer tongue weights ranging from 200-600 (which is probably where the TW of your Airstream Bambi Sport lies), go with # EQ37060ET.
