Do Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform Roof Trays have Weight Capacity
Question:
Thank you for your reply. Please see below the issue that I have on installing the Pioneer platform on the canopy. I have a canopy from A.R.E. model MX HD series (Heavy Duty). The canopy is equipped with 2 heavy duty A.R.E. cross bars spaced at 6 feet (72 inches) apart. There are no other rails or racks on the canopy except for the 2cross bars mentioned. The crossbars are fixed and cannot be moved (Please see pictures attached). A Pioneer platform model 42107B (84 inches long x 49 inches wide) is planned to be installed on top of the canopy that will be secured on the crossbars. My questions are: 1.Is it possible to install the Pioneer platform just on the 2 crossbars? Is it safe and approved? If it is, by what means or fixing hardwares required? 2.If the platform that is 84” long is secured only on the crossbars that is spaced at 72” apart, will it safely hold the weight of the roof top tent and people of approximately 550lbs. Your response will be much appreciated. Please let me know if you need more info.

Rhino Rack has told us in the past that the weight capacity for their Pioneer Platform trays like the # RR42114BF or the other one you mentioned will be the weight capacity of the vehicle roof/roof rack minus the weight of the tray since these are overbuilt for their applications basically.
