What Is Best Way to Convert 4-Way of 1999 GMC Sierra K1500 to 7-Way to Install Brake Controller
Question:
I have a 1999 GMC Sierra k1500 with the 5.7l v8. My truck currently has the 4 pole flat connector and I am wanting to install the 7 pin connection so that I have trailer brakes. I ordered the Universal Wiring Harness w/ ModuLite and Brake Controller Harness - 7-Way Trailer Connector from your website. Will this work? Is this a relatively easy install? Thank you!

The # 22551 that you referenced can install in your 1999 GMC Sierra K1500 to install a 7-way but since you already have a 4-way installed a good portion of the wiring of this kit wouldn't be needed and would be redundant. Overall though it's still not a difficult install. The easiest solution would have been the # ETBC7 that you referenced. This plugs into the 4-way you have to take care of all of the trailer light functions and then comes with all of the connections needed to wire up a brake controller as well. This would be your easiest and most ideal solution that's also priced the best.
For a brake controller too the part # TK63VR is a proportional controller that is priced great that would work really well for your towing setup as well.
