How to Attach a Tow Bar to the Roadmaster # 1528-1 Base Plate on 1998 Honda CRV
Question:
Once I have installed the 1528-1 Roadmaster Base Plate, what connectors do I need to hook up my hitch to it? The hitch I have has the square ends on them that would slide into a receiver type device. Thanks

The method of connection will depend on which manufacturers tow bar you are using. Some vehicles use a base plate kit that features removable draw bars, which might be what you have (see photo). The type of base plate for the 1998 CRV uses standard base plates, which are not removable. There is also a base plate kit, # 1528-3 that would allow the draw bars to be removed. For a Roadmaster tow bar, you would use a set of quick disconnects, part # RM-201. One half of the disconnect would bolt to the base plate, the other end to the tow bar, allowing the vehicle to be quickly and easily be disconnected from the tow bar without having to remove any fasteners.
For a Blue Ox tow bar, you would need a Roadmaster Base Plate to Blue Ox Tow Bar Adapter, part # RM-033.

If your tow bar is a Demco, use the # RM-033
For a Duncan, use # RM-038
For a Reese, Valley, Draw-Tite, Tow Ready or EAZ-Lift, use # RM-025.
In addition to the Tow Bar and Base Plates, you will need a wiring solution to power the tail lights of the CRV, safety cables (unless your tow bar includes them) and a supplemental braking system if required in your state.
