Hi I need to install new shackle mounts on my aftermarket jeep bump. The only flat spot would put the arms of the tow bar at about 26 inches apart. Is that a safe distance....thank you

I spoke with my contact over at Roadmaster and he said that the minimum safe distance to mount the base plates is going to be 22" apart and the maximum will be 30" apart. Since you're at 26" apart, you're right in the middle of the recommended safe distance to use the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520 .

The Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bar #BX4330 that you referenced can be used with base plate kits that are between 23 and 30 inches apart.

Coiled safety cables part #RM-643 would work great with the Roadmaster tow bar part #RM-525. These have a 6,000 lb capacity and since they are coiled they are easy to keep off the ground.

The adapter you mentioned #BX88358 will work for you as we have checked with Blue Ox and this can fit tab widths of 3/4 inch wide, 7/8 inch wide, and 1 inch wide with 1 inch diameter pin holes. The distance between the arms is 1 inch.
