Recommended Weight Distribution System for 27 Foot Airstream Trailer

Question:

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 limited 4X4 short bed P/U. 5.7 gas engine. Towing a 27foot Airstream trailer. What is the best anti sway and weight distribution hitch for my set up?

Based on the 27 foot length you mentioned it sounds like you have the Airstream Flying Cloud 27FB or 27FB Twin model, both of which have a maximum loaded trailer weight of 7,600 pounds.

If this is correct I highly recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET, which features integrated 4-Point Sway Control to drastically reduce any side-to-side movement during travel and simple clamp-on brackets that eliminate the need for any drilling into the trailer frame. It includes everything needed for installation.

When picking out a weight distribution system you want to determine your setup's total tongue weight (which includes the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Ram) and find a system with a tongue weight capacity range that closely matches this.

Since the GVWR of your Airstream is 7,600 pounds, we can estimate a loaded tongue weight of around 760 pounds to 1,140 pounds, as a trailer's tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight. This potential range plus any added rear cargo weight to your truck should match up perfectly to the 800 to 1,200 pound tongue weight capacity range on the above-mentioned Equal-i-zer System.

I have attached a short video demonstration that you can check out as well.
