Troubleshooting Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Staying Lit and Numbers Flashing
Question:
Have had this brake controller for years with no problems but recently returned from a trip with a trailer and after 2 days noticed the controller still illuminated and the numbers were changing as if I was adjusting the settings and the battery was being drawn down even though no trailer was plugged in. The batteries are less than 6 months old as well. Does it just need to be reset? I am unable to get to the connector in the back of the unit.

It does sound like your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 is just in need of a manual reset. The only way to really do this though is to unplug it from power by removing the plug at the back of the controller itself or unplugging from a factory port behind the truck's dash (if it was equipped with one). If you truly aren't able to access the plug then your only option will be to sever the black 12V wire from the back of the controller to cut off power.
Once you are able to unplug the unit let it sit for a few minutes before plugging it back in (or repairing/re-connecting the power wire). This should reset it so that it behaves like normal again.
If the problems persist for some reason please let me know.
