Valve Core Stuck In Valve for Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs And Cannot Add Air

Question:

These air bags are installed on a motorhome that i bought. When i tried to check the air pressure i found that the needle in the valve is counter sunk into the valve stem. Therefore i cant check or put air into the valve. Whats going on with this??

The valve core can sometimes get stuck inside the valve stem due to corrosion build-up or being inserted incorrectly. This would then mean you could not put air in or take air out of the system. The good news is that this is pretty easy to fix and all you will need is the Air Line Service Kit for Firestone Ride-Rite/Sport-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2012 which comes with new inflation valves as well as a few other odds and ends it will be good to have on hand.

In order to remove the old valves you simply need to push in on the hose and outer ring, hold the ring in place, and then pull the hose out. This can be tricky so if you want you can just cut the hose directly behind the valve as well but be careful if the system is still pressurized.
