Replacement Parts and How to Clean Trailer Hydraulic Brake Actuating Couplers
Question:
The boot is rotted. Can I replace this boot for starters? What cleaning solution can I use to clean the inside of the master cylinder?

Unfortunately, the rubber boot isn't available as a separate item. If you decide to replace the entire master cylinder, I'd be happy to recommend a replacement if you reply with the model of hydraulic brake coupler you have.
To clean the reservoir. You'll want to do this in a well ventilated area. Remove the master cylinder from the actuator and empty the brake fluid from the reservoir. Spray the interior down with brake cleaner. Do this a few times, then scrub it well with an old toothbrush. Repeat as needed until clean. Then rinse the master cylinder well with water and shake it dry. Pour an ounce or so of rubbing alcohol in the reservoir and shake well, then drain. Use a hair dryer to blow out the remainder of any water out until you can't smell the rubbing alcohol anymore.
The # DX66FR you looked at is a replacement for model 10 and 20 Trailer Hydraulic Brake Actuating Couplers. If you click the provided link, you can see the replacement master cylinders we have available.
