The lid for the Buyers Products Utility Storage Box part # 3371712240 does not have a listed weight capacity as this is just not something the manufacturer testes for. The storage box is indeed durable but whether or not one could sit on this would all really depend on the weight of the individual but this is not something I can exactly advise on.

The smaller version of the Buyers Products storage box you are looking for is the #3371712230. This box is 32" x 15" x 13-1/2". I attached a couple review videos for this box for you to check out as well!

Yes, the lid of the DeeZee Specialty Series Storage Box #DZ6537P is hinged. I checked with DeeZee to confirm this. Check out the pic I attached that shows this box with the lid open on its hinges.
