Do Hitch Pins Have Weight Ratings
Question:
I purchased this pin from you: # 40107 Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock Ill be using it in a Curt class V 2inch hitch that I also purchased from you and will be pulling a 16k lb trailer here soon. Is there a weight rating associated with this pin? It shows only being designed for class 3 and 4 hitches. But I didnt know if that was because most class 5 are 2-1/2inch or if it isnt designed to take the heavier GTW?

Expert Reply:
Hitch pins like the # e98882 do not carry specific weight ratings. They have more than enough capacity to match that of the hitch in which they will be used because they do not bear the weight of the trailer since the tongue weight pins the mount into the hitch tube. This hitch pin is for Class III and Class IV hitches and will work on Class V 2" hitches.
Included is a review video for reference.
It is always a good idea to also revisit your owner's manual regarding vehicle towing capacity limits as well.
