Why is Removing or Trimming a Bed Liner to Install B&W Companion Required?

Question:

WHY is removing the bed liner or cutting it around the hitch important when using a Companion 5th Wheel Hitch?

Expert Reply:

The reason why the manufacturer requires removal or trimming of a drop-in bed liner or mat is because the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # BWRVK3500 needs to make full metal contact with the truck bed. This will create the most resistance. Leaving the bed liner in place does not allow for the base of the B&W Companion to install tightly enough against your bed, creating unnecessary slack.

If your truck bed has a spray-in bed liner however, you can simply follow the steps as if you were installing it on a bare truck bed.
