Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2000 Honda CR-V Behind a Motor Home
Question:
I have a reese towbar and a honda CRV 2000. I understand I likely need the roadmaster 1528-3 base plate. But what else do i need in order to connect the Reese universal brackets to the roadmaster base plate. It seems like there are multiple items out there and Im not sure I need them all... quick disconnects, etc. Thank you in advance.

In order to flat tow your 2000 Honda CR-V, you will need to first add base plates. You can use the XL style base plates that you have referenced, # 1528-3.
In order to use your Reese tow bar, # 63180, you will need to use an adapter, # RM-025, and quick disconnects, # RM-201. With this tow bar, you are limited to 45 miles per hour. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
If you want to tow at highway speeds, you will need a different tow bar. I recommend the Falcon 2, # RM-520. It is the most popular tow bar for XL base plates. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review for you. I also recommend coiled safety cables # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
For lighting, I recommend the Roadmaster bulb and socket kit, # RM-155. This kit will fit your CR-V and does not require cutting and splicing into the vehicle tail light wiring.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake, # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. Proportional systems are the safest way to stop and they reduce wear and tear on both vehicles.
