Troubleshooting Wiring Brake Controller Into 2006 Ram Using Factory Wiring Labeled
Question:
On the stock harness under the dash there are 4 wires, labeled 30 amp battery Ground Brake Brake sensitive input If I hook the brake controller up the trailer brakes are at 100 and lock up. When I follow the wires back from the dash to the back of the truck there was a wire labeled trailer brakes but the color matches the sensitivity wire. The blue wire for brakes changes to dark green and stops past fire wall. If I hook the blue from controller to sensitivity wire I can brake manually but pushing pedal they lock up. Other trucks pull trailer fine. And I’ve tried 2 different controllers in mine??

Thank you for the picture of the factory brake controller wiring in your truck that I believe is a 2006 Dodge Ram. I can tell you how it's "supposed" to wire up to your brake controller so that we can from there eliminate that as the problem and see where the problem might be.
So the wire labeled ground goes to the white wire of the brake controller, the one labeled trailer brakes goes to the blue wire of the controller, the one labelled 30 amps max goes to black wire of the controller, and the one labelled brake sense gets the red wire.
Try wiring up the brake controller in this configuration and let me know if that's not fixing the issue and what issues are still there. Here's how to test brake controller wiring to determine where the problem may be:
Testing the brake controller is fairly easy. Sever the blue brake output wire near the brake controller leaving enough room to reconnect it and then apply the manual slide. Using a circuit tester like the Quickee Tester, part # PTW2993, you should get output to the controller side of the wire you severed. If the manual slide activates the trailer brake output wire properly, try the brake pedal. If the brake pedal activates the brake output properly also then the problem is farther back either in the vehicle wiring or on the trailer.
If either the brake pedal or the manual slide are not functioning properly you will need to test the wires going into the brake controller. Make sure you have power entering the brake controller on the black wire. On the red wire you will only want power when the brake pedal is pressed.
If there is power on the red wire before the brake pedal is pressed you have connected the red wire from the brake controller to the wrong circuit. You would then need to find the brake switch wire that has power ONLY when the brake pedal is activated.
If these connections check out and the brake controller is properly grounded then there is possibly a problem inside the brake controller.
I am including a link to a video that will show you how to test the wiring on a brake controller.
