Parts Needed to Add a Trailer Brake Controller and 7-Way Connector on a 2009 Ford Escape
Question:
Hi, I just purchased a trailer weight 2100 pounds and it has electric brakes on it. My Escape does not have a trailer package, although I already have the T connector installed and therefore have power to the back. I will need to buy a trailer brake controller - which wiring package will I need to add, and what do you recommend for a good controller? Thanks for your help

Since you already have a 4-Way trailer connector on your 2009 Ford Escape, you will just need to add 2 more parts to equip a 7-Way and a brake controller. First, you will need a 4 and 7-Way installation Kit, # ETBC7. This kit will provide all of the wiring and components you will need to install a 7-Way and it provides wiring for the brake controller. I have included some links that will explain the installation of an ETBC7 kit for you.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our best selling controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have included the installation details for the brake controller and a link to an FAQ on brake controllers.
The only other part you may need is a circuit tester, # PTW2993, if you do not already have one.
