Will the SportRack Aero Cargo Box Fit a 2011 Chevy Tahoe and Handle High Speeds for Long Periods

Question:

Only need this thing 3- 4times per year. Will mount it attop a 2011 Tahoe. Will be driving 80 mph plus for 15 hrs. How does it handle speeds? Any undulation, buffeting, whatever?

The SportRack Aero cargo box, # SR7018, will handle highway speeds for long durations provided it is mounted properly. It fits on crossbars no wider than 4 inches and spreads between 24 and 34 inches apart on center.

Since this box uses u-bolts to mount, I do recommend checking that the knobs inside the box are tight when you make pit stops. The vehicle handling will seem different with a box on top, but this is normal with any box. Some vibration and wind noise is to be expected. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation of the box.

If your Tahoe does not have crossbars that run side to side on the roof, you will need to add some before you can mount a box. I have included a link to the available options for your Tahoe. Make sure to consult the owners manual to determine the weight carrying capacity of the roof.
