The first thing you want to do is unplug the factory 7-way plug from the factory tow package port. Take a circuit tester and check the circuits of the factory wiring port for power. If you have power on the circuits and not the 7-way plug then the plug needs to be replaced. You can also make sure the 7-way plug is fully seated with the factory wiring for a good connection. You also want to make sure the 7-way plug is properly grounded to a clean bare metal surface if it has a separate ground wire.
It is a common debate as to if you should unplug your boat trailer from the vehicle when loading the boat into the water or not. We recommend that you do just in the case that there is an exposed wire that could cause a short.
If you do not have power to the factory tow package port, I recommend to check the fuses one more time because it does sound like you blew a fuse.
If you need to replace the 7-way plug please let me know the year, make and model of the vehicle and I can assist you further.
