Trailer Dolly Recommendation for 1,000 lb Boat on Trailer
Question:
I have a 16.5 ft wahoo with a 70hp yamaha engine. have a driveway that is asphalt with a layer of gravel. I tried the Trailer Valet 5x but the wheels couldnt get traction. Wondering if you could recommend a dolly that might work. the engine weighs @250lbs and the boat @1000lbs. Thx

Before swapping out dollies you may want to try to see if putting more tongue weight on your trailer would give you better traction for your Trailer Valet 5X # STC-V211. Since it sounds like you have a bit of weight at the back of the boat it could be that there isn't much pressure on the tires which is why you're having trouble.
The only other option, aside from using one of the Trailer Valet remote controls like part # TVRVR3, is to use the manual Trailer Dolly # FHG84ZR. This uses a 1-7/8" hitch ball and is rated for up to 600 lbs trailer tongue weight. If you need a larger hitch ball we have the 2" option # EI2C-C which has the same shank size.
